Beverly Hills Baby…

The Beverly Hills Hotel, Los Angeles.

This iconic candy coloured hotel in pastel pink and pistachio green, really is one of THE places in the world to be. Whether it’s lounging in one of the cabanas by the pool, or sipping cocktails in the Polo Lounge, the celebrity guest list is seriously A class and includes stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, John Wayne and Marylin Monroe.

I was one lucky lady to be given access to shooting at this truly inspirational hotel for the Dorchester Collection. I even got to stay in one of their suites. The height of luxury.

You can see more shots from this shoot on my website under the advertising section.

Oh – and Russel Crowe and Kanye West were there too….

Loafing around with Dune..

I like a man in loafers – they really do represent a lazy summer lifestyle so far removed from a freezing Friday in February. Really enjoyed shooting the Spring/Summer 1012 Campaign for Dune shoes.

Campari anyone?

The loveliest of all lovely lenses.

Whilst showing you one of my latest shots for the TK Maxx spring campaign, I thought I might talk a little bit about lenses.

It’s easy to think that to take great pictures (especially portraits),  all you need is a great camera. Actually you don’t – you can have a pretty crappy camera…what you really, really need is a great lens.

This was shot on the L series Canon 85 mm lens. With amazing optical quality, it can also shoot at the incredibly low aperture of 1.2. This gives you the ability to blow the background right out of focus and to shoot at very low light levels. It also gives you a look of great depth and cinematic quality.

Lovely!

Rebecca Ferguson..Heaven sent.

Rebecca Ferguson is on her way to superstardom. This I believe, is a fact.

With the release of her debut album ‘Heaven’ I predict huge things for this gorgeous Liverpudlian with the silky voice.

Having already downloaded her album and declared myself a fan,  I was seriously excited to be given the chance to shoot her for a Fabulous Magazine cover story (released 14th Jauary 2012).

The conditions were tough – it was a frrrreeeeezing december day, we were on location in East London, the dresses were flimsy. Not to worry  - Rebecca went with the flow, kept on smiling and remained cool at all times..just like her tunes.

I’ll have ketchup with that.

Here is one of my favourite pictures from the AW 2011/12 Bertie shoe shoot which is currently in stores.

Shot in the eclectic Pelton Arms pub in SE London, we had run of the place for the day with the very gorgeous Francisco @ Models 1 and the current face of Bertie, Jana @ Storm.

It was one of those amazing days where everything just clicked – great models, great team, great client, great location…and unlimited servings of chips..with ketchup of course.

Read My Lips – Hello 2012.

So the New Year is upon us. I can’t help but think that 2012 sounds like a scfifi movie title. We are soooo living in the future.

With it comes another chance of a new beginning, new rules, new ideas…or you could just say screw it and carry on with your wonderful life. No guilt, no beating yourself up. Either way I thought I’d showcase my Lipgloss series this week as the images visually represent many of the issues we deal with on a daily basis.

Wishing you all a wonderfully happy and fulfilling 2012.

Love Elisabeth

The lipgloss series is available as part of a limited edition print sale. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to know more.

Mission Possible: A fairy lit Christmas without the blur.

Christmas pictures of glowing fairy lights and kids don’t mix. We all know that.  The slow shutter speeds needed to capture the low light glow, results in restless kids turning into blurry blobs.

I am so excited that this is now a thing of the past.  With the amazing image quality offered digitally at high ISO values, you can actually capture the glow of the lights, and shoot at shutter speeds which will freeze movement.

So I decided to use this when shooting my family christmas card this year. Using the Canon 5D Mark 2, I shot this picture of my two boys, Finn and Soren, using an ISO level of 3200 and a shutter speed of 1/125. The result is the above picture where I managed to catch a very short moment of  tenderness.

Ahh- I’ve come over all warm and fuzzy…

Definitely On Our Radar

It’s a big day for The Saturday’s today. Their 3rd album ‘On Your Radar’ is released. Currently the UK”s biggest girl band they are taking the pop world by storm- these girls are on a roll and definitely on everyone’s  radar.

Working with Form Design we created a paired back look for the girls focussing more on their personalities rather than on the styling.

Thank you to the beautiful Rochelle, Una, Frankie, Mollie and Vanessa for working so hard, being great, and making my job as a photographer so easy!
