The Actress Now. An Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.

Am very excited to announce that my picture of Sienna Miller, shot for the cover of Time Out Magazine in February, has been aquired by the National Portrait Gallery and will be part of an exhibition called ‘The Actress Now’ opening on the 20th of October.

I shot this 12 days after having my second son – was intending to take a little more time off…but who turns down Sienna Miller?

Beautiful, funny and down to earth – she could not have been lovelier.  We shot this in the Judy Garland Dressing Room in the Dominion theatre in-between rehearsals for the play she was in – ‘Flare Path’. Chairs and tables were stacked against the walls to make room for the set. Not exactly 5 star treatment, but she didn’t care.

Haunted Spaces – The Ghosts of St Pancreas

Inspired by the story of Queen Boudicca haunting Kings Cross St Pancreas,  I decided to create my own haunted fashion series. Shot at The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, this is one of 4 shots created for a charity project titled ‘Hidden Gems’. All in aid of the children’s charity The Variety Club.

My Hidden Gems: The beautiful Jessica Pain @ Models 1 and in this shot the eco designer Ada Zanditon.

There is going to be a book and an exhibition and a print sale. To see the full series go to the fashion section of my website. If you want to buy one, or simply want to be kept updated about the exhibition, email me.

Styling by Rebekah Roy.

Doing it for the kids were also  Zoe Taylor on makeup and Ben Cooke on hair.

Please Release Me…

Red or Dead have just launched their first perfume called ‘Release Me’. I love them – they are so clever with their brand and such a great bunch to work with.

Shot this in studio, but also had some help from the fabulous maze at Longleat and a cherry picker. Good thing I’m not afraid of heights.

Maybe you’ll spot it next time you go through Duty Free?

Hair: Peter Lux @ Frank Agency

Makeup: Hiromi Ueda @ Julian Walters

Model: Kat @ M&P Models

Set: Dragonfly Scenery

Support when you need it most

We all need a bit of extra support now and again..and if you are into sport and a bit top heavy, Freya Active are here to give you that extra bit. The new campaign featuring the very fit Katya Zalitiko at Profile models doing her triathlon moves was shot by me and art directed by the brilliant Stuart Jackson at RBH.

Using a projector to project tri images onto the studio cove and the Canon 5D at high ISO I managed to freeze Katya’s movement and still pick up the low light projections all in one frame. I think it looks ace. Hope you do too.

The oh so very, very coooool Yasmin

Shot the unbelievably beautiful singer & DJ Yasmin Shahmir for Issue 4 of Phoenix Magazine. Her current single ‘Finish Line’ has had over 2 million viewers on Youtube..and she was discovered by Pharrel Williams whilst DJ-ing in a club ..and he took her with him on N.E.R.D.’s world tour…and she is only 21!

This girl is about to be EVERYWHERE. She is represented by Storm models..and has just been shot by Vogue. But Phoenix got there first which just proves that they seriously have their finger firmly pressed on the pulse of rising talent.

A Muse

We all have our inspirations and here is the amazingly talented designer Vanessa Bruno with one of hers…in the form of the beautiful french model and stylist Valentine Fillol Cordier. This 27 year old has style and cool oozing from every pore without seeming to have to really try at all…maybe for some its just embedded in their DNA?

Below  is Valentine modelling Vanessa’s gorgeous jumpsuit from the A/W 2011 collection. Love it!

Shot for the September issue of Marie Claire UK.

Shake it like a Polaroid picture

I don’t know about you, but with the move over to digital I definitely miss polaroids. I used to love pinning them up on a polly board in the studio. It’s a great way of keeping track of how the shoot is progressing…and clients love it.

However I have found a solution! I now bring my little Canon Selphy on shoots. I use 6×4 photo paper. Viola. My assistant can print out as we go, and it’s like the good old days again. This mood board is from a Freya lingerie shoot. So much fun…and no shaking necessary.

Bertie in Brrrrrrighton

Have had the pleasure of shooting the last 3 campaigns for Bertie shoes. It’s such a fun brand – young and carefree.  This one we christened hangover in brighton. Shot in a loose style, this is where the brilliant Canon 5D comes into it’s own. I love the graphics they have added to the pictures. Done by the talented graphic artist Aki who also works for Diesel.

And yes it was cold.

Super Duper Saturation

Shot this image for TK Maxx on a lake just outside Cape Town.

How to get this effect? You need a very strong flash head and a camera that syncs with flash at a high shutter speed. Shot at F16 and at a high shutter speed you can then stop down the ambient light while mixing with flash to get this effect. Nothing added in post here. What you see, is what I got.

..And next time you go fishing – make sure you are dressed for the job. OK?
